DUA FOR RELEASE FROM GRIEF
Twenty-ninth: Consisting of nineteen phrases, the following supplicatory prayer brings about relief to those who say it. It was taught to Imam ‘Ali Amir al-Mu’minin (‘a) by the Holy Prophet (s). It has been also recorded in Shaykh al-Saduq’s book entitled al-Khisal, Chapter: Nineteen-Numbered Characteristics.
يَا عِمَادَ مَنْ لَاعِمَادَلَهُ
O Support of him who lacks support!
وَ يَا ذُخْرَ مَنْ لَاذُخْرَلَهُ
O Hoard of him who lacks hoard!
وَ يَا سَنَدَ مَنْ لَاسَنَدَ لَهُ
O Prop of him who lacks prop!
وَ يَا حِرْزَ مَنْ لَاحِرْزَ لَهُ
O Shelter of him who lacks shelter!
وَ يَا غِيَاثَ مَنْ لَاغِيَاثَ لَهُ
O Aide of him who is aidless!
وَ يَا كَرِيْمَ الْعَفْوِ
O.He Who pardons generously!
وَ يَا حَسَنَ الْبَلَاۤءِ
O He Who gifts excellently!
وَ يَا عَظِيْمَ الرَّجَاۤءِ
O He Who is greatly hoped!
وَ يَا عِزَّ الضُّعَفَاۤءِ
O Might of the feeble!
وَ يَا مُنْقِذَ الْغَرْقٰى
O Rescuer of the drowned!
وَ يَا مُنْجِىَ الْهَلْكٰى
O Redeemer of the perishing!
يَا مُحْسِنُ يَا مُجْمِلُ
O All-munificent! O All- benign!
يَا مُنْعِمُ يَا مُفْضِلُ
O All-gracious! O All-benevolent!
اَنْتَ الَّذِىْ سَجَدَ لَكَ سَوَادُ اللَّيْلِ وَ نُوْرُ النَّهَارِ
It is You alone before Whom the darkness of night has prostrated.
وَضَوْءُ الْقَمَرِ وَ شُعَاعُ الشَّمْسِ
So have the light of day,
وَ دَوِىُّ الْمَاۤءِ وَ حَفِيْفُ الشَّجَرِ
the brightness of the moon, the radiance of the sun,
يَاۤ اَللهُ يَاۤ اَللهُ يَاۤ اَللهُ
the murmur of water, and the rustle of trees. O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!
اَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَاشَرِيْكَ لَكَ۔
You are the One and Only Lord without having any partner with You. O Allah...
You may now submit your requests. You will not leave your place before having your prayer responded, by the will of Allah the All-exalted.
