IMAM AL-’ASKARI’S SUPPLICATION
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّي اَسْاَلُكَ بِاَنَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدَ
O Allah, I beseech You in the name of all praise being to You;
لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ
there is no god save You,
الْبَدِيۤءُ قَبْلَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
[You are] the Premier before all things;
وَ اَنْتَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّوْمُ
and You are the Ever-living, the Self-Subsistent;
وَ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ
and there is no god save You,
الَّذِيْ لَا يُذِلُّكَ شَيْءٌ
nothing can humiliate You;
وَ اَنْتَ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ فِي شَأْنٍ
and You, every moment, are in a state (of glory).
لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ
There is no god save You,
خَالِقُ مَا يُرٰى وَ مَا لَا يُرَى
the Creator of what is seen and what cannot be seen,
الْعَالِمُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ بِغَيْرِ تَعْلِيْمٍ
the Knower of all things without learning;
اَسْاَلُكَ بِاٰلَاۤئِكَ وَ نَعْمَاۤئِكَ
I beseech You in the name of Your bounties and gratuities
بِاَنَّكَ اللهُ الرَّبُّ الْوَاحِدُ
and in the name of Your being Allah, the One Lord,
لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ
there is no god save You,
الرَّحْمٰنُ الرَّحِيْمُ
the All-beneficent, the All-merciful;
وَ اَسْاَلُكَ بِاَنَّكَ اَنْتَ اللهُ
and I beseech You in the name of Your being Allah;
لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ
there is no god save You,
الْوِتْرُ الْفَرْدُ
the Unique, the Single,
الْاَحَدُ الصَّمَدُ
the One, and the eternally Besought of all,
الَّذِيْ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَ لَمْ يُوْلَدْ
Who begets not, nor is he begotten,
وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا اَحَدٌ،
and none is like Him.
وَ اَسْاَلُكَ بِاَنَّكَ اللهُ
And I beseech You in the name of Your being Allah,
لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ
there is no god save You;
اللَّطِيْفُ الْخَبِيْرُ
the Knower of subtleties, the All-aware,
الْقَاۤئِمُ عَلٰى كُلِّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ
Who watches every soul as to what it earns,
اَلرَّقِيْبُ الْحَفِيْظُ
the Watcher, the Preserver.
وَ اَسْاَلُكَ بِاَنَّكَ اللهُ
And I beseech You in the name of Your being Allah,
الْاَوَّلُ قَبْلَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
the First before all things,
وَ الْاٰخِرُ بَعْدَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
the Last after all things,
وَ الْبَاطِنُ دُوْنَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
the Knower of all hidden things,
الضَّآرُّ النَّافِعُ
the source of both harm [for those who deserve harm] and benefit,
الْحَكِيْمُ الْعَلِيْمُ
the All-wise, and Allknowing.
وَ اَسْاَلُكَ بِاَنَّكَ اَنْتَ اللهُ
And I beseech You in the name of Your being Allah,
لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ
there is no god save You,
الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّوْمُ
the Ever-living, the Self-Subsistent,
الْبَاعِثُ الْوَارِثُ
the Resurrector, the Inheritor,
الْحَنَّانُ الْمَنَّانُ
the All-tender, the All-favorer,
بَدِيْعُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ
the Fashioner of the heavens and the earth,
ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَ الْاِكْرَامِ
the Lord of majesty and honor,
وَ ذُو الطَّوْلِ وَ ذُو الْعِزَّةِ وَ ذُو السُّلْطَانِ
and the Lord of bounty, dignity, and absolute authority.
لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ
There is no god save You;
اَحَطْتَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا
You encompass all things with knowledge,
وَ اَحْصَيْتَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عَدَدًا
and You record the number of all things;
صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
(please) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.
