In the book of Tuhfat alZa’ir, Imam alSadiq, peace be upon him, is reported to have said that one who wants his request to be granted by Almighty Allah or fears something, may write down the following supplication on a white patch and then fold it and put it in a dried round clay and throw it in current water. Verily, Almighty Allah will relieve one who does so from grievances. The supplication is as follows:
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْۤ اَتَوَجَّهُ اِلَيْكَ بِاَحَبِّ الْاَسْمَاۤءِ اِلَيْكَ وَ اَعْظَمِهَا لَدَيْكَ وَ اَتَقَرَّبُ وَ اَتَوَسَّلُ اِلَيْكَ بِمَنْ اَوْجَبْتَ حَقَّهُ عَلَيْكَ وَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلِيٍّ وَ فَاطِمَةَ وَ الْحَسَنِ وَ الْحُسَيْنِ وَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ وَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ مُوْسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ وَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُوْسٰى وَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَ الْحُجَّةِ الْمُنْتَظَرِ صَلَوَاتُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْهِمْ اَجْمَعِيْنَ اِكْفِنِي۔۔۔۔
In the Name of Allah; the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. O Allah, I turn my face toward You, asking You by the Names that are the dearest to You and the greatest in Your view, and I am seeking nearness and intercession to You in the names of those towards whom You have committed Yourself with a duty; namely, Muhammad, ‘Ali, Fatimah, and al-Hasan, al-Husayn, ‘Ali the son of al-Husayn, Muhammad the son of ‘Ali, Ja'far the son of Muhammad, Musa the son of Ja'far, ‘Ali the son of Musa, Muhammad the son of ‘Ali, ‘Ali the son of Muhammad, al-Hasan the son of ‘Ali, - and the Awaited Argument (of Allah), may Allah’s blessings be upon them all; (please) save me from...
