The Supplication of the Lame Man.
This supplication is also called “the supplication of the young man punished for his sins.” Being recorded in the books of al-Kaf’ami and the book of Muhaj al-Da’awat, this supplication has been taught by Imam AliAmeer al-Momineen(a.s.) to a young man who was paralyzed due to the wrongdoings and sins that he had committed against his father. After he said this supplication, the young lame man slept and saw in dream that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) came to him and passed his hand over his body saying, “Hold on to the Greatest Name (alism al-a’zam) of Almighty Allah and your deeds will be good.” When he woke up, he found himself healed from lameness.
The supplication is the following:
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّیْ اَسْئَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ
O Allah, verily I beseech You by Your Name:
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
یَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَ الْاِكْرَامِ
O Lord of majesty and honor!
یَا حَیُّ یَا قَیُّوْمُ
O Ever-living! O Self-subsistent!
یَا لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ
O Ever-Living! There is no god but You!
یَا هُوَ یَا مَنْ لَا یَعْلَمُ مَا هُوَ
O He Whom none knows what He is,
وَ لَا كَیْفَ هُوَ
nor how He is,
وَ لَا اَیْنَ هُوَ
nor where He is,
وَ لَا حَیْثُ هُوَ اِلَّا هُوَ
nor in what respect He is, but He!
یَا ذَا الْمُلْكِ وَ الْمَلَكُوْتِ
O Possessor of dominion and kingdom!
یَا ذَا الْعِزَّۃِ وَ الْجَبَرُوْتِ
O Possessor of might and invincibility!
یَا مَلِكُ یَا قُدُّوْسُ یَا سَلَامُ
O King! O All-holy! O Giver of peace!
یَا مُؤْمِنُ یَا مُهَیْمِنُ
O Granter of security! O All-preserver!
یَا عَزِیْزُ یَا جَبَّارُ یَا مُتَكَبِّرُ
O Almighty! O All-compeller! O Allsublime!
یَا خَالِقُ یَا بَارِئُ یَا مُصَوِّرُ
O Creator! O Maker! O Shaper!
یَا مُفِیْدُ یَا مُدَبِّرُ
O grantor of Benefits! O Director!
یَا شَدِیْدُ یَا مُبْدِئُ
O Severe (in punishing the evildoers)! O Originator!
یَا مُعِیْدُ یَا مُبِیْدُ
O Returner! O Destroyer!
یَا وَدُوْدُ یَا مَحْمُوْدُ یَا مَعْبُوْدُ
O All-loving! O All-praiseworthy! O All-worshipped!
یَا بَعِیْدُ یَا قَرِیْبُ
O Far! O Nigh!
یَا مُجِیْبُ یَا رَقِیْبُ یَا حَسِیْبُ
O Responder! O Watcher! O Reckoner!
یَا بَدِیْعُ یَا رَفِیْعُ
O Innovator! O Exalter!
یَا مَنِیْعُ یَا سَمِیْعُ
O Inaccessible! O Allhearing!
یَا عَلِیْمُ یَا حَلِیْمُ یَا كَرِیْمُ
O All-knowing! O All-clement! O All-generous!
یَا حَكِیْمُ یَا قَدِیْمُ
O All-wise! O Eternal!
یَا عَلِیُّ یَا عَظِیْمُ
O All-high! O All-tremendous!
یَا حَنَّانُ یَا مَنَّانُ
O All-commiserating! O All-gracious!
یَا دَیَّانُ یَا مُسْتَعَانُ
O Condemner! O Recourse!
یَا جَلِیْلُ یَا جَمِیْلُ
O All-majestic! O All-handsome!
یَا وَكِیْلُ یَا كَفِیْلُ
O Guardian! O Surety!
یا مُقِیْلُ یَا مُنِیْلُ
O Annuller! O Bestower!
یَا نَبِیْلُ یَا دَلِیْلُ
O All-noble! O Leader!
یَا هَادِیْ یَا بَادِیْ
O Guide! O All-Apparent!
یَا اَوَّلُ یَا اۤخِرُ
O First! O Last!
یَا ظَاهِرُ یَا بَاطِنُ
O Outward! O Inward!
یَا قَاۤئِمُ یَا دَاۤئِمُ
O All-steadfast! O Everlasting!
یَا عَالِمُ یَا حَاكِمُ
O Knower! O Decider!
یَا قَاضِیْ یَا عَادِلُ
O Judge! O Just!
یَا فَاصِلُ یَا وَاصِلُ
O Separator! O Joiner!
یَا طَاهِرُ یَا مُطَهِّرُ
O Pure! O Purifier!
یَا قَادِرُ یَا مُقْتَدِرُ
O All-powerful! O All-able!
یَا كَبِیْرُ یَا مُتَكَبِّرُ
O All-great! O Allsublime!
یَا وَاحِدُ یَا اَحَدُ یَا صَمَدُ
O One! O Unique! O eternally Besought of all!
یَا مَنْ لَّمْ یَلِدْ وَ لَمْ یُوْ لَدْ
O He Who begets not and was not begotten,
وَ لَمْ یَكُنْ لَّهٗ كُفُوًا اَحَدٌا
equal to Whom is none,
وَ لَمْ یَكُنْ لَّهٗ صَاحِبَۃٌ وَّلَا وَلَدٌ
Who has no consort,
وَلَا كَانَ مَعَهٗ وَزِیْرٌ
with Him.is no aide
وَلَا اتَّخَذَ مَعَهٗ مُشِیْرًا
nor has He taken any adviser,
وَ لَا احْتَاجَ اِلٰی ظَهِیْرٍ
nor needs He any assistant,
وَّ لَا كَانَ مَعَهٗ مِنْ اِلٰهٍ غَیْرُهٗ
nor with Him is any god but He—
لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ
there is no god but You.
فَتَعَالَیْتَ عَمَّا یَقُوْلُ الظَّالِمُوْنَ عُلُوًّا كَبِیْرًا
So exalted are You above what the evildoers say, a great exaltation!
یَا عَلِیُّ یَا شَامِخُ یَا بَاذِخُ
O All-high! O All-lofty! O All-towering!
یَا فَتَّاحُ یَا نَفَّاحُ یَا مُرْتَاحُ
O All-opener! O Alldiffuser! O All-restful!
یَا مُفَرِّجُ یَا نَاصِرُ یَا مُنْتَصِرُ
O Bestower of relief! O Helper! O Giver of victory!
یَا مُدْرِكُ یَا مُهْلِكُ یَا مُنْتَقِمُ
O Comprehender! O Destroyer! O Avenger!
یَا بَاعِثُ یَا وَارِثُ
O Upraiser! O Inheritor!
یَا طَالِبُ یَا غَالِبُ
O Seeker! O Vanquisher!
یَا مَنْ لَّا یَفُوْتُهٗ هَارِبٌ
O He from Whom no fugitive can escape!
یَا تَوَّابُ یَا اَوَّابُ یَا وَهَّابُ
O All-relenting! O All-forbearing! O All-bestower!
یَا مُسَبِّبَ الْاَسْبَابِ
O Originator of all means!
یَا مُفَتِّحَ الْاَبْوَابِ
O Opener of all doors!
یَا مَنْ حَیْثُ مَا دُعِیَ اَجَابَ
O He Who answers wherever He is called upon!
یَا طَهُوْرُ یَا شَكُوْرُ
O All-Pure! O All-thankful!
یَا عَفُوُّ یَا غَفُوْرُ
O Exempter! O Forgiver!
یَا نُوْرَ النُّوْرِ
O Light of light!
یَا مُدَبِّرَ الْاُمُوْرِ
O Director of all affairs!
یَا لَطِیْفُ یَا خَبِیْرُ
O All-subtle! O All-aware!
یَا مُجِیْرُ یَا مُنِیْرُ
O Protector! O Illuminator!
یَا بَصِیْرُ یَا ظَهِیْرُ یَا كَبِیْرُ
O All-seeing! O All-aiding! O All-great!
یَا وِتْرُ یَا فَرْدُ
O Alone! O Solitary!
یَا اَبَدُ یَا سَنَدُ یَا صَمَدُ
O Eternity without end! O Support! O Everlasting Refuge!
یَا كَافِیْ یَا شَافِیْ
O All-sufficient! O All-healing!
یَا وَافِیْ یَا مُعَافِیْ
O All-fulfilling! O All-relieving!
یَا مُحْسِنُ یَا مُجْمِلُ
O All-kind! O All-gracious!
یَا مُنْعِمُ یَا مُفْضِلُ (یَا مُتَفَضِّلُ)
O All-benevolent! O All-bountiful!
یَا مُتَكَرِّمُ یَا مُتَفَرِّدُ
O All-beneficent! O All-solitary!
یَا مَنْ عَلَا فَقَهَرَ
O He Who is exalted and dominates!
یَا مَنْ مَلَكَ فَقَدَرَ
O He Who is master and exercises power!
یَا مَنْ بَطَنَ فَخَبَرَ
O He Who is inward and aware!
یَا مَنْ عُبِدَ فَشَكَرَ
O He Who is worshipped and thankful!
یَا مَنْ عُصِیَ فَغَفَرَ وَ سَتَرَ
O He Who is disobeyed and forgives!
یَا مَنْ لَا تَحْوِیْهِ الْفِكَرُ
O He Who is not encompassed by thoughts,
وَ لَا یُدْرِكُهٗ بَصَرٌ
nor perceived by vision,
وَ لَا یَخْفٰی عَلَیْهِ اَثَرٌ
and from Whom no trace remains hidden!
یَا رَازِقَ الْبَشَرِ
O Provider of mankind!
یَا مُقَدِّرَ كُلِّ قَدَرٍ
O Determiner of every lot!
یَا عَالِیَ الْمَكَانِ
O Lofty in place!
یَا شَدِیْدَ الْاَرْكَانِ
O Firm in supports!
یَا مُبَدِّلَ الزَّمَانِ
O Transformer of times!
یَا قَابِلَ الْقُرْبَانِ
O Accepter of sacrifices!
یَا ذَاالْمَنِّ وَ الْاِحْسَانِ
O Lord of graciousness and benevolence!
یَا ذَا الْعِزَّۃِ وَ السُّلْطَانِ
O Lord of might and force!
یَا رَحِیْمُ یَا رَحْمٰنُ
O All-compassionate! O All-merciful!
یَا مَنْ هُوَ كُلَّ یَوْمٍ فِیْ شَاْنٍ
O He Who is every day upon some labor!
یَا مَنْ لَّا یَشْغَلُهٗ شَاْنٌ عَنْ شَاْنٍ
O He Who is not distracted from one labor by another!
یَا عَظِیْمَ الشَّاْنِ
O Tremendous in rank!
یَا مَنْ هُوَ بِكُلِّ مَكَانٍ
O He Who is in every place!
یَا سَامِعَ الْاَصْوَاتِ
O He Who hears all sounds!
یَا مُجِیْبَ الدَّعْوَاتِ
O He Who answers all supplications!
یَا مُنْجِحَ الطَّلِبَاتِ
O He Who fulfils all entreaties!
یَا قَاضِیَ الْحَاجَاتِ
O He Who provides all needs!
یَا مُنْزِلَ الْبَرَكَاتِ
O He Who sends down blessings!
یَا رَاحِمَ الْعَبَرَاتِ
O He Who has mercy upon tears!
یَا مُقِیْلَ الْعَثَرَاتِ
O He Who annuls slips!
یَا كَاشِفَ الْكُرُبَاتِ
O He Who removes troubles!
یَا وَلِیَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ
O He Who sponsors good things!
یَا رَافِعَ الدَّرَجَاتِ
O He Who exalts in rank!
یَا مُعْطِیَ السُّؤْلَاتِ
O He Who bestows requests!
یَا مُحْیِیَ الْاَمْوَاتِ
O He Who gives life to the dead!
یَا جَامِعَ الشَّتَاتِ
O He Who gathers all scattered things!
یَا مُطَّلِعًا عَلَی النِّیَّاتِ
O He Who is aware of all intentions!
یَا رَاۤدَّ مَا قَدْ فَاتَ
O He Who brings back what has passed away!
یَا مَنْ لَا تَشْتَبِهُ عَلَیْهِ الْاَصْوَاتُ
O He for Whom sounds are never indistinct!
یَا مَنْ لَا تُضْجِرُهُ الْمَسْئَلَاتُ
O He Who never becomes annoyed at requests
وَلَا تَغْشَاهُ الظُّلُمَاتُ
nor covered by shadows!
یَا نُوْرَ الْاَرْضِ وَ السَّمٰوٰتِ
O Light of the earth and the heavens!
یَا سَابِغَ النِّعَمِ
O Ample in blessings!
یَا دَافِعَ النِّقَمِ
O Repeller of adversities!
یَا بَارِئَ النَّسَمِ
O Maker of the breaths of life!
یَا جَامِعَ الْاُمَمِ
O He Who gathers together the nations!
یَا شَافِیَ السَّقَمِ
O Healer of illnesses!
یَا خَالِقَ النُّوْرِ وَ الظُّلَمِ
O Creator of light and darkness!
یَا ذَاالْجُوْدِ وَالْكَرَمِ
O Lord of munificence and generosity!
یَا مَنْ لَا یَطَاۤئُ عَرْشَهٗ قَدَمٌ
O He upon Whose Throne no foot treads!
یَا اَجْوَدَ الْاَجْوَدِیْنَ
O Most Munificent of the most munificent!
یَا اَكْرَمَ الْاَكْرَمِیْنَ
O Most Generous of the most generous!
یَا اَسْمَعَ السَّامِعِیْنَ
O Most Hearing of the hearers!
یَا اَبْصَرَ النَّاظِرِیْنَ
O Most Seeing of the viewers!
یَا جَارَ الْمُسْتَجِیْرِیْنَ
O Protector of those who seek protection!
یَا اَمَانَ الْخَاۤئِفِیْنَ
O Sanctuary of the fearful!
یَا ظَهْرَ اللَّاجِیْنَ
O Asylum of the refugees!
یَا وَ لِیَّ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ
O Patron of the believers!
یَا غِیَاثَ الْمُسْتَغِیْثِیْنَ
O Helper of those who seek aid!
یَا غَایَۃَ الطَّالِبِیْنَ
O Goal of the seekers!
یَا صَاحِبَ كُلِّ غَرِیْبٍ
O Companion of every stranger!
یَا مُوْنِسَ كُلِّ وَحِیْدٍ
O Intimate of everyone alone!
یَا مَلْجَاۤئَ كُلِّ طَرِیْدٍ
O Refuge of every outcast!
یَا مَاْوٰی كُلِّ شَرِیْدٍ
O Shelter of every wanderer!
یَا حَافِظَ كُلِّ ضَاۤلَّۃٍ
O Custodian of everyone astray!
یَا رَاحِمَ الشَّیْخِ الْكَبِیْرِ
O He Who is merciful to old men!
یَا رَازِقَ الطِّفْلِ الصَّغِیْرِ
O He Who provides for small infants!
یَا جَابِرَ الْعَظْمِ الْكَسِیْرِ
O He Who sets broken bones!
یَا فَاكَّ كُلِّ اَسِیْرٍ
O He Who releases every prisoner!
یَا مُغْنِیَ الْبَاۤئِسِ الْفَقِیْرِ
O He Who enriches the miserable pauper!
یَا عِصْمَۃَ الْخَاۤئِفِ الْمُسْتَجِیْرِ
O He Who safeguards the fearful seeker of protection!
یَا مَنْ لَهُ التَّدْبِیْرُ وَ التَّقْدِیْرُ
O He Who governs and determines!
یَا مَنِ الْعَسِیْرُ عَلَیْهِ سَهْلٌ یَسِیْرٌ
O He for Whom the difficult is simple and easy!
یَا مَنْ لَا یَحْتَاجُ اِلٰی تَفْسِیْرٍ
O He Who never needs an explanation!
یَا مَنْ هُوَ عَلٰی كُلِّ شَیْئٍ قَدِیْرٌ
O He Who is powerful over everything!'
یَا مَنْ هُوَ بِكُلِّ شَیْئٍ خَبِیْرٌ
O He Who is aware of everything!
یَا مَنْ هُوَ بِكُلِّ شَیْئٍ بَصِیْرٌ
O He Who sees everything!
یَا مُرْسِلَ الرِّیَاحِ
O Sender of the winds!
یَا فَالِقَ الْاَصْبَاحِ
O Cleaver of the dawn!
یَا بَاعِثَ الْاَرْوَاحِ
O Dispatcher of the spirits!
یَا ذَا الْجُوْدِ وَ السَّمَاۤحِ
O Lord of munificence and forbearance!
یَا مَنْ بِیَدِهٖ كُلُّ مِفْتَاحٍ
O He in Whose Hand is every key!
یَا سَامِعَ كُلِّ صَوْتٍ
O He Who hears every sound!
یَا سَابِقَ كُلِّ فَوْتٍ
O He Who takes precedence over everything that passes away!
یَا مُحْیِیَ كُلِّ نَفْسٍ بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ
O He Who gives life to every soul after death!
یَا عُدَّتِیْ فِیْ شِدَّتِیْ
O my Provision in my hardship!
یَا حَافِظِیْ فِیْ غُرْبَتِیْ
O my Maintainer in my exile!
یَا مُوْنِسِیْ فِیْ وَحْدَتِیْ
O my Intimate in my lonesomeness!
یَا وَلِیِّ فِیْ نِعْمَتِیْ
O my Sponsor in my blessings!
یَا كَهْفِیْ حِیْنَ تُعْیِیْنِیْ الْمَذَاهِبُ
O my haven when the ways make me weary,
وَ تُسَلِّمُنِی الْاَقَارِبُ
when relatives give me up
وَ یَخْذُلُنِیْ كُلُّ صَاحِبٍ
and when every companion forsakes me!
یَا عِمَادَ مَنْ لَا عِمَادَ لَهٗ
O Backing of him who has no backing!
یَا سَنَدَ مَنْ لَا سَنَدَ لَهٗ
O Support of him who has no support!
یَا ذُخْرَ مَنْ لَا ذُخْرَ لَهٗ
O Store of him who has no store!
یَا حِرْزَ مَنْ لَا حِرْزَ لَهٗ
O Sanctuary of him who has no sanctuary!
یَا كَهْفَ مَنْ لَا كَهْفَ لَهٗ
O Cave of him who has no cave!
یَا كَنْزَ مَنْ لَا كَنْزَ لَهٗ
O Treasure of him who has no treasure!
یَا رُكْنَ مَنْ لَا رُكْنَ لَهٗ
O castle of him who has no castle!
یَا غِیَاثَا مَنْ لَاغِیَاثَ لَهٗ
O Help of him who has no help!
یَا جَارَ مَنْ لَا جَارَ لَهٗ
O backer of him who has no backer!
یَا جَارِیَ اللَّصِیْقَ
O my Adjacent Neighbor!
یَا رُكْنِیَ الْوَثِیْقَ
O my Sturdy Pillar!
یَا اِلٰهِیْ بِالتَّحْقِیْقِ
O My God in truth!
یَا رَبَّ الْبَیْتِ الْعَتِیْقِ
O Lord of the Ancient House!
یَا شَفِیْقُ یَا رَفِیْقُ
O All-affectionate! O Friend!
فُكَّنِیْ مِنْ حَلَقِی الْمَضِیْقِ
Deliver me from the chains of strictures,
وَ اصْرِفْ عَنِّیْ كُلَّ هَمٍّ وَّ غَمٍّ وَّ ضِیْقٍ
turn away from me every care, grief and distress,
وَّ اكْفِنِیْ شَرَّ مَا لَا اُطِیْقُ
protect me from the evil of that which I cannot bear,
وَ اَعِنِّیْ عَلٰی مَا اُطِیْقُ
and help me in that which I am able to bear!
یَا رَاۤدَّ یُوْسُفَ عَلٰی یَعْقُوْبَ
O He Who returned Joseph to Jacob!
یَا كَاشِفَ ضُرِّ اَیُّوْبَ
O He Who removed the affliction of Job!
یَا غَافِرَ ذَنْبِ دَاوٗدَ
O He Who forgave the sin of David!
یَا رَافِعَ عِیْسَی بْنِ مَرْیَمَ وَ مُنْجِیَهٗ مِنْ اَیْدِی الْیَهُوْدِ
O He Who caused Jesus, the son of Mary, to ascend and delivered him from the hands of the Jews!
یَا مُجِیْبَ نِدَاۤئِ یُوْنُسَ فِی الظُّلُمَاتِ
O He Who answered Jonah's call in the darkness!
یَا مُصْطَفِیَ مُوْسٰی بِالْكَلِمَاتِ
O He Who chose Moses by spoken words!
یَا مَنْ غَفَرَ لِاۤدَمَ خَطِۤیْئَتَهٗ
O He Who forgave Adam his slip
وَ رَفَعَ اِدْرِیْسَ مَكَانًا عَلِیًّا بِرَحْمَتِهٖ
and raised Idris to a high place through his mercy!
یَا مَنْ نَجٰی نُوْحًا مِنَ الْغَرَقِ
O He Who saved Noah from drowning!
یَا مَنْ اَهْلَكَ عَادًا نِ الْاُوْلٰی
O He Who destroyed Ad, the ancient,
وَ ثَمُوْدَ فَمَا اَبْقٰی
and Thamud, and did not spare them,
وَ قَوْمَ نُوْحٍ مِّنْ قَبْلُ
and the people of Noah before;
اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا هُمْ اَظْلَمَ وَ اَطْغٰی
certainly, they were most unjust and more rebellious,
وَ الْمُؤْتَفِكَۃِ اَهْوٰی
and al-Mu'tafikah, He also overthrew.
یَا مَنْ دَمَّرَ عَلٰی قَوْمِ لُوْطٍ
O He Who destroyed the people of Lot
وَّ دَمْدَمَ عَلٰی قَوْمِ شُعَیْبٍ
and crushed the people of Shu'ayb!
یَا مَنِ اتَّخَذَ اِبْرَاهِیْمَ خَلِیْلًا
O He Who took Abraham for a friend!
یَا مَنِ اتَّخَذَ مُوْسٰی كَلِیْمًا
O You Who took Moses for an object of His words,
وَ اتَّخَذَ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّی اللّٰهُ عَلَیْهِ وَ اٰلِهٖ وَ عَلَیْهِمْ اَجْمَعِیْنَ حَبِیْبًا
and took Muhammad, may Allah bless him and his Household, for a beloved!
یَا مُؤْتِیَ لُقْمَانَ الْحِكْمَۃَ
O He Who gave Luqman wisdom,
وَ الْوَاهِبَ لِسُلَیْمَانَ مُلْكًا
and bestowed upon Solomon a kingdom
لَا یَنْبَغِیْ لِاَحَدٍ مِّنْ بَعْدِهٖ
such as may not befit anyone after him!
یَا مَنْ نَصَرَ ذَا الْقَرْنَیْنِ عَلَی الْمُلُوْكِ الْجَبَابِرَۃِ
O He Who gave Dhul-Qarnayn victory over the tyrannical kings!
یَا مَنْ اَعْطَی الْخِضْرَ الْحَیٰوۃَ
O He Who gave al-Khadir (eternal) life
وَ رَدَّ لِیُوْشَعَ بْنِ نُوْنٍ الشَّمْسَ بَعْدَ غُرُوْبِهَا
and returned the sun to Joshua, the son of Nun, after its setting!
یَا مَنْ رَبَطَ عَلٰی قَلْبِ اُمِّ مُوْسٰی
O He Who strengthened the heart of Moses’ mother,
وَ اَحْصَنَ فَرْجَ مَرْیَمَ ابْنَتِ عِمْرَانَ
and guarded the virginity of Mary, the daughter of 'Imran!
یَا مَنْ حَصَّنَ یَحْییَ بْنَ زَكَرِیَّا مِنَ الذَّنْبِ
O He Who fortified John, the son of Zachariah, against sins
وَ سَكَّنَ عَنْ مُوْسَی الْغَضَبَ
and calmed the anger of Moses!
یَا مَنْ بَشَّرَ زَكَرِیَّا بِیَحْیٰی
O He Who gave Zachariah the good news of the birth of John!
یَا مَنْ فَدَا اِسْمٰعِیْلَ مِنَ الذَّبْحِ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِیْمٍ
O He Who ransomed Ishmael from the sacrifice with a mighty sacrifice!
یَا مَنْ قَبِلَ قُرْبَانَ هَابِیْلَ
O He Who accepted the sacrifice of Abel
وَ جَعَلَ الَّعْنَۃَ عَلٰی قَابِیْلَ
and placed a curse upon Cain!
یَا هَازِمَ الْاَحْزَابِ لِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّی اللّٰهُ عَلَیْهِ وَ اٰلِهٖ
O He Who routed the parties for Muhammad, may Allah bless him and his Household!
صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
(please do) Bless Muhammad, the household of Muhammad,
وَّ عَلٰی جَمِیْعِ الْمُرْسَلِیْنَ وَ مَلَاۤئِكَتِكَ الْمُقَرَّبِیْنَ
all the messengers, Your archangels,
وَ اَهْلِ طَاعَتِكَ اَجْمَعِیْنَ
and all those who obey You!
وَ اَسْئَلُكَ بِكُلِّ مَسْئَلَۃٍ سَئَلَكَ بِهَا اَحَدٌ
I beseech You the supplication of every one who has besought you
مِّمَّنْ رَضِیْتَ عَنْهُ فَحَتَمْتَ لَهٗ عَلَی الْاِجَابَۃِ
and with whom You have been pleased and thus decided to grant his request.
یَا اَللّٰهُ یَا اَللّٰهُ یَا اَللّٰهُ
O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!
یَا رَحْمٰنُ یَا رَحْمٰنُ یَا رَحْمٰنُ
O All-merciful! O All-merciful! O All-merciful!
یَا رَحِیْمُ یَا رَحِیْمُ یَا رَحِیْمُ
O All-compassionate! O All-compassionate! O All-compassionate!
یَا ذَا الْجَلاَلِ وَ الْاِكْرَامِ
O Lord of majesty and honor!
یَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَ الْاِكْرَامِ
O Lord of majesty and honor!
یَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَ الْاِكْرَامِ
O Lord of majesty and honor!
بِهٖ بِهٖ بِهٖ بِهٖ بِهٖ بِهٖ بِهٖ
By Him! By Him! By Him! By Him! By Him! By Him! By Him!
اَسْئَلُكَ بِكُلِّ اسْمٍ سَمَّیْتَ بِهٖ نَفْسَكَ
I beseech You by every Name with which You have named Yourself
اَوْ اَنْزَلْتَهٗ فِیْ شَیْئٍ مِنْ كُتُبِكَ
or which You have sent down in one of Your scriptures
اَوِاسْتَاْثَرْتَ بِهٖ فِیْ عِلْمِ الْغَیْبِ عِنْدَكَ
or kept for Yourself in the knowledge of the Unseen with You,
وَ بِمَعَاقَدِ الْعِزِّ مِنْ عَرْشِكَ
by the junctures of might for Your Throne,
وَ بِمُنْتَهَی الرَّحْمَۃِ مِنْ كِتَابِكَ
by the utmost limit of mercy from Your Book,
وَ بِمَا لَوْ اَنَّ مَا فِی الْاَرْضِ مِنْ شَجَرَۃٍ اَقْلَامٌ
by the fact that, , “though all the trees in the earth were pens
وَّ الْبَحْرُ یَمُدُّهٗ مِنْ بَعْدِهٖ سَبْعَۃُ اَبْحُرٍ
and the sea - seven seas after it to replenish it,
مَّا نَفِدَتْ كَلِمَاتُ اللّٰهِ
yet the words of Allah not be spent.
اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَزِیْزٌ حَكِیْمٌ
Allah is All-mighty, All-wise.”
وَّ اَسْئَلُكَ بِاَسْمَاۤئِكَ الْحُسْنَی
And I beseech You by Your Most Excellent Names
الَّتِیْ نَعَتَّهَا فِیْ كِتَابِكَ فَقُلْتَ
that You have described in Your book thus saying,
وَ لِلّٰهِ الْاَسْمَاۤئُ الْحُسْنٰی فَادْعُوْهُ بِهَا
“To Allah belong the Most Excellent Names, so call Him by them!”
وَ قُلْتَ اُدْعُوْنِیْ اَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ
And You said: “Call upon Me and I will answer you.”
وَ قُلْتَ وَ اِذَا سَئَلَكَ عِبَادِیْ عَنِّیْ فَاِنِّیْ قَرِیْبٌ
And You said: “And when My servants ask you concerning Me, then surely I am very near;
اُجِیْبُ دَعْوَۃَ الدَّاعِ اِذَا دَعَانِ
I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he calls on Me.”
وَقُلْتَ یَا عِبَادِیَ الَّذِیْنَ اَسْرَفُوْا عَلٰی اَنْفُسِهِمْ
And You said: “Say: O My servants who have been prodigal against yourselves;
لَا تَقْنَطُوْا مِنْ رَّحْمَۃِ اللّٰهِ
do not despair of Allah's mercy.
اِنَّ اللّٰهَ یَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوْبَ جَمِیْعًا
Surely, Allah forgives all sins.
اِنَّهٗ هُوَ الْغَفُوْرُ الرَّحِیْمُ
Surely, He is the All-forgiving, the All-compassionate.”
وَ اَنَا اَسْئَلُكَ یَا اِلٰهِیْ
And I ask You, O my God,
وَ اَدْعُوْكَ یَا رَبِّ
I call You, O my Lord,
وَ اَرْجُوْكَ یَا سَیِّدِی
I please You, O my Master,
وَ اَطْمَعُ فِیْ اِجَابَتِیْ یَا مَوْلَایَ كَمَا وَعَدْتَنِیْ
and I desire for You to respond to me, O my Protector, just as You have promised me—
وَ قَدْ دَعَوْتُكَ كَمَا اَمَرْتَنِیْ
for I have called You just as You have commanded me.
فَافْعَلْ بِیْ مَا اَنْتَ اَهْلُهٗ یَا كَرِیْمُ
So, do to me what is worthy of You, O All-generous!
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعَالِمَیْنَ
All praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.
وَ صَلَّی اللّٰهُ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اٰلِهٖ اَجْمَعِیْنَ۔
May Allah bless Muhammad and his entire Household.
Then you may pray Almighty Allah to grant you your personal requests and they will be granted, Allah willing. According to the narration mentioned in Muhaj al-Da’awat, one must say this supplication while being in a state of ritual purity.
