The eighth hour, which is the space of time between the amount of four units of prayer after the Noon Prayer and the Afternoon Prayer, is dedicated to Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Rida(a.s.). The supplication at this hour is the following:
يَا خَيْرَ مَدْعُوٍّ
O Best of all besought ones!
يَا خَيْرَ مَنْ اَعْطٰى
O Best of all givers!
يَا خَيْرَ مَنْ سُئِلَ
O Best of all asked ones!
يَا مَنْ اَضَاۤءَ بِاسْمِهِ ضَوْءُ النَّهَارِ
O He by Whose Name the light of days beams,
وَ اَظْلَمَ بِهِ ظُلْمَةُ اللَّيْلِ
the darkness of nights dims,
وَ سَالَ بِاسْمِهِ وَابِلُ السَّيْلِ
the heavy rain of floods flows,
وَ رَزَقَ اَوْلِيَاۤئَهُ كُلَّ خَيْرٍ
and has provided His intimate servants with all prosperity!
يَا مَنْ عَلَا السَّمٰوَاتِ نُوْرُهُ وَ الْاَرْضَ ضَوْئُهُ
O He Whose light has gone up the heavens,
وَالشَّرْقَ وَالْغَرْبَ رَحْمَتُهُ
Whose beam has gone up the earth,
يَا وَاسِعَ الْجُوْدِ
and Whose mercy has gone up the east and the west!
اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ عَلِىِّ بْنِ مُوْسَى الرِّضَا
O Ample in magnanimity,
عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ
beseech You in the name of 'Ali, the son of Musa, the well-contented,
وَ اُقَدِّمُهُ بَيْنَ يَدَىْ حَوَاۤئِجِىْ
peace be upon both of them,
اَنْ تُصَلِّىَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اَنْ تَفْعَلَ بِىْ كَذَا وَ كَذَا۔۔۔
and I present him as my mediation for the settling of my needs,
